Manuscript Evaluations
Available in 3 tiersFirst of all, thank you for reaching out! Trusting a stranger on the internet with something you've poured yourself into is not a small thing. I am honored to help shape the story you want to tell.
Here's how I approach critiques:
I offer three levels of evaluation depending on where you are in your process. Each one gets my full attention, and the difference is in the deliverable.
Across all three, my feedback is specific to your book and nobody else's. I recognize that you, as the writer, have full creative liberty. I can point out the blindspots and help you course-correct, but this is your project.
In practice, this is providing guidance in a manner that never undermines your ideas, only sharpens them.
Ultimately, I aim to improve your manuscript, not turn it into a bastardized version of what it once was. It's my goal to offer outstanding work at manageable price points and teach my clients to look at their own work critically, with the hope that they improve their skills enough to not need outside assistance to publish a final draft.
Choose Your Tier
I encourage submitting a list of questions or concerns along with your manuscript, regardless of tier
I read your entire manuscript and tell you honestly what's working, what isn't, and why I think so. No suggestions or fixes.
This isn't a light skim. Every page gets my full attention. The difference between this and the other tiers isn't the quality of the read, it's what you get at the end of it.
What you receive:
- A structured report covering plot, characters, pacing, worldbuilding, and overall reader experience
- What's working well and why
- What isn't working and why
- No suggestions or fixes
Best for authors who:
- Need a professional verdict before committing to a full revision
- Are working within a budget but won't compromise on quality
This tier builds your report directly from inline comments made throughout your manuscript.
I leave real-time reader reactions throughout your pages as I read. Where I got hooked, where I lost interest, where I got confused. The report is then built directly from those inline comments so every point I make is anchored to a specific moment in your draft. You see the problem right where it happens, on the page as your reader experienced it.
This tier makes it easy to build a revision plan, because the issues are clear and easy to address.
What you receive:
- Everything in the Story Report
- Genuine, real-time reader reactions left throughout your manuscript
- A report built directly from those comments, grounding every observation in your actual pages
- No suggestions or fixes
Best for authors who:
- Need problems shown in context, on the page where they happen
- Are ready for revision and want a plan before they start
Everything in the Annotated Report, plus suggestions for every major issue identified and a call to talk through them together.
This is the only tier where I offer potential solutions for addressing the issues I've identified. The editorial letter goes beyond highlighting problems by giving you options on how to solve them. Then we get on a call and work through those options together. You ask questions, we debate, and you leave with decisions made.
If you'd rather find your own solutions, the Annotated Report is your tier.
What you receive:
- Everything in the Annotated Report
- Specific solutions for every major issue. You decide which ones fit your story best
- A comprehensive editorial letter covering:
- Overall reader experience: what's working, what needs revision and why
- Big-picture analysis: plot structure, character arcs, worldbuilding, theme
- Scene and craft level analysis: POV, pacing, tension, opening and ending impact
- A one-hour call to discuss options
- Three months of email support as you work through your revision
Best for authors who:
- Want professional guidance on which solutions fit their story best
- Want insight on which changes will have the biggest impact
